Montreal-based aerospace company Bombardier plans to grow its U.S. operations, investing $270 million and hiring 800 workers, the company said. Bombardier said it is recruiting now for 500 open jobs with plans to hire 300 more in Indiana, Texas, Kansas and Connecticut. The company recently opened a training center in Wichita, Kan., and a 64,000-sq-ft service and maintenance facility is to open in Fort Wayne, Ind., in November.

“Our American service network is a key pillar of Bombardier's growth strategy. This new wave of expansion and hiring reflects our long-term confidence in this market and our employees in America,”

Eric Martel, Bombardier President and CEO, said in a statement. “Based on our constructive conversations with the U.S. administration, we see a bright path forward for our highly skilled aerospace workers as well as a positive environment for Bombardier to continue pursuing direct investments to grow our American footprint.”

In 2025, Bombardier said its U.S. operations supported 27,200 American jobs throughout its service and manufacturing facilities, as well as within a $2.8 billion supply chain. U.S. Bombardier workers are based in Kansas; Texas; Arizona; Florida; Connecticut; Illinois; Delaware; California; New Jersey; and Washington, D.C.

In September, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to block the sale of Canadian Bombardier jets in the U.S. unless it starts manufacturing its planes there. Bombardier jets are popular with many celebrities and business executives. In response, Bombardier pointed out that it has manufacturing facilities in several states and employees in over 20. The company’s U.S. operations are based in Kansas.
