Released at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time in The Daily, Tuesday, May 26, 2026
Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the manufacturing sector. Advance results indicate that total manufacturing sales increased 4.6% in April. The largest increase was in the petroleum and coal product subsector.
This estimate was calculated based on a weighted response rate of 72.3%. The average final response rate for the survey over the previous 12 months has been 92.7%. As Statistics Canada continues to collect data for the April reference month, this advance indicator is subject to a higher revision rate than our regular monthly release.
Note to readers
The percentage change is calculated using seasonally adjusted data in current dollars.
This advance estimate is a special product published to provide Canadians with timely information on the manufacturing sector. The official estimate of manufacturing sales for the month of April, which will be based on a more complete set of survey and administrative data, is scheduled for release on June 15, 2026.
